I cannot believe how much better I can see the gauges in my 1964 Land Rover! These were an exact fit and light the instrument panel up very nicely. Less AMPS going through the old Rovers electrical system also :) Too bad these were not invented when Lucas Electrics ruled British cars. I bet there would have been a few less electrical fires- lol

Excellent LED Dashboard Bulb

I put these bulbs into the dashboard of my 1971 Series IIa Land Rover. They fit perfectly and do the job nicely. I would not recommend these bulbs for dashboard illumination (although they work, there are brighter bulbs available) but they are perfect for the warning lamps (e.g. headlight full beam, oil pressure etc).
If you are running a Lucas 15ACR or 17ACR alternator DO NOT use these bulbs for the Charge warning light unless you also wire a resistor into the circuit - the LED does not draw enough amps to activate the alternator and it will not charge.

The base of the 87965 bulb is slightly smaller in diameter than the original bulb (Osram). The panel light sockets in my MGA are not fully threaded, but have opposing ridges on the inside of the socket to catch the bulb threads. In order to get a snug, rattle-proof fit, I had to crimp the socket. The illumination is great.
