After replacing the tubes in our guest bathroom once and the ballast once, these finally dropped in price enough to purchase and were glad we did. Ditched the ballast (and the humming noise) as well as the fragile tubes for a pair of these.
Went from 90 watts to 30 watts used for the same light, plus the lights will last longer, and are MUCH more sturdy (you do not feel like youre going to break them and release the mercury vapor of fluorescent tubes).

I bought 2 of these bulbs to replace burnt out standard bulbs in my garage. I simply removed the old ballast and installed the new tubes. The light is on a simple timer to turn it on at night for six hours, it functions as a very bright night light. It fully illumimates the area under the light. I am very happy with them. The only drawback is the price.
