Great for recessed down lighting and uplighting floorlamps

Yes
A nice very bright LED fixture that works well in down-facing recessed lighting (such as over the bathtub in the master bathroom) as well as in upwards lighting lamp fixtures. We have two of these (one in each type as described above) that have replaced 75 to 100 watt bulbs.
Only thing keeping it from a 5 star is the directed light aspect of the bulb. Once people can find an LED bulb reaching the lumens level of this one that can disperse light in a table lamp type of setting, LEDs will catch on big.
