I live in New England and bought this to replace a CFL on my front porch. I was tired of waiting for the CFL to brighten after it warmed up. This bulb starts bright as soon as you turn it on and is brighter than the CFL. It lights my front door very well. This bulb seems just right for outdoor applications or anywhere you may need a lot of light such as basement or attic. Fits in the fixture no problem. Actually easier to install since it is narrower than an incandescent bulb.
